Music by The Piano Brothers

On June 13, 2019 following a short illness, Juma Keita Amen-Ra departed this incarnation and headed to the realm of the Ancestors.  Juma was born as Keith Ellis Roberts to Fred Louis and Florence Coleman Roberts on August 24, 1952 in Detroit, Mi.  In the early 1970’s Keith shed his “government” name and proudly assumed the name of Juma Keita Amen-Ra.  Over the next decades, Baba Juma set out on a spiritual journey that would see him initiated and ascend to several levels of Priesthood each with their own title and appropriate exaltation.

We have been blessed and served by Baba as:  Shango Gumi, Ademiwole and as Ifa Mobolaji.

Juma married the love of his life, C. Alicia Amen-Ra affectionately known as, “Ayanna” on December 22, 1984.

Juma’s love for God, family and community was unparalleled with the possible exception to his love of the game of golf.  He played up until the last days.  Surely he is waiting for us at the 19th hole.

He leaves to mourn: his wife C. Alicia Amen-Ra, Daughter, Kafi Amen-Ra, sons Aswad (Nicole) Amen-Ra, Amir (Tiffany) Amen-Ra and Esai Amen-Ra.  Five grandchildren, Jai Willis, Ayanna Amen-Ra, Malia Amen-Ra, Makoa Amen-Ra and Olori Amen-Ra.

He is also survived by one sister, Janis Lee, two brothers, Philip Roberts and Barry Tucker: one brother in law, Harold (Althea) Waters, four sisters in law, Janice (Bill) Hill, Karen (Jeffery) Johnson, Vicki Powell and Vanessa Waters.  Baba Juma is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, God children, spiritual siblings as well as many lifetime friends, former coworkers and golf buddies.
