Peggy J. Gonzales, age 75, went home to be with her Lord on February 25, 2016 with her loving husband of 61 years, Mingo, at her side.

Peggy devoted her life to the service of others and to the glory of God. A resident of Rockdale County since 1965, Peggy and Mingo sponsored the first Boy Scout troop and 4H club in the county, served faithfully in several churches, and founded Disciples on Assignment, a mission outreach dedicated to serving people in the poorer areas of rural Mexico.

A truly gifted woman, over the years Peggy was a skilled painter, photographer, musician, licensed Realtor, and an avid gardener. She had a genuine heart for others and people with nowhere else to go knew they could always find an extra plate at her dinner table or an extra gift at Christmas time.

Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Mingo Gonzales, her five children: Rocky and spouse Skippy Gonzales of Conyers, Mary Anne (Gonzales) Edwards and spouse Jeff Edwards of Smyrna, Sherry (Gonzales) King of Covington, Penny (Gonzales) Tanner and spouse Bill Tanner of Powder Springs,  and Chuck Gonzales of Covington. In addition, Peggy leaves behind several loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, and amazing friends.

An interment service will be held at Honey Creek Woodlands at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit on Tuesday, March 1, at 1:00p. Rev. Ernie Forrester of Haven Fellowship Church will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Haven Fellowship Church,
Conyers, GA, in honor of Peggy’s life.

Sending nothing but strength and love across the miles during this difficult time. As my mother passed less than a year ago, I know your sense of loss and emptiness. Keep your loved ones close and take comfort in their love.
