Frank Garaffa was born February 13, 1932 in Newark, New Jersey.  He passed away on April 12, 2016 at the age of 84.   He was the eldest son of Nicholas and Catherine(Fiorello) Garaffa.  Frank had five siblings Nicholas, Philip, Anthony  and James and Phyllis.  Upon graduating high school, he entered the United States Air Force and served in the Korean War as a military police officer.  Following his service, Frank met Pauline Leonardis, and the two were married in 1954. He and Pauline had two children, Frank Jr. and Kathy.  He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was a proud fourth degree Knight of Columbus, and an active member of his church.  He loved to help every summer with the Iselin Fair while living in New Jersey. After moving to Ohio, he often made the monthly breakfasts for the church community. He enjoyed many sports, especially bowling and fishing, and particularly loved cheering on the New York Yankees and New York Giants. His grandchildren fondly remember his patience and love. They recount wonderful stories of being taught chess, checkers, bowling, fishing, card games and just having fun together.  As a grandfather, he was always present to enjoy watching his grandsons wrestle, and his granddaughter play soccer and sing.  He took such pleasure in watching all of their accomplishments.

Frank will be remembered for the incredible love he had for his family, and the wisdom he shared with them over the years. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Pauline, his two children Kathy and Frank, Jr., his son-in-law Mike, and his grandchildren, Michael, Bryan, Kaitlyn, Nicholas and Steven.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer Association.
