Tommy Edward Gaines “Moon Dog” age 51 of Loganville, Georgia passed away surrounded by his family on July 14, 2016 in Piedmont Newton Hospital. He was born on May 4, 1965 in Jefferson, Georgia to Eugene and Callie Gaines. Moon Dog as he was known, had a great passion for life and was always willing to offer a helping hand. He was a devoted son, loving brother, beloved husband, dedicated father, joyous grandfather and a friend to all that knew him. Tommy enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR and scratching lotto tickets at the local Chevron. Tommy is predeceased by his parents; Eugene and Callie Gaines, his sisters Betty Henson and Charlotte Fowler, his daughter; Janice Dickerson, his granddaughter; Penelope Edwards and his grandson Brian Edwards. He is survived by his wife; Jo Ann Gaines, children; Clint Edwards, Jesse Edwards and Eric Edwards. Siblings; Peggy Ivey, Larry Gaines, Nora Tiller, Minnie Murphy, H.L. Gaines and Kenneth Gaines. 13 grandchildren as well as host of family and friends. Services for Mr. Gaines are to be held at Newton Baptist Church in Covington, Georgia, on Saturday July 16, 2016. The family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m. and funeral services are to begin at 1:00 p.m., Burial is to follow at Lorraine Assembly of God Cemetery in McDonough, Georgia.
