Mrs. Margie Morgan Orr, age 88, of Fairburn, Georgia passed away on August 7, 2017 after battling declining health with remarkable courage. Her beloved husband of thirty three years, Curtis Thomas Orr pre-deceased her this past February.

Margie carried sorrow and pain like an ordinary handbag but sewn deep inside were surprising pockets of joy...

The confident, quiet way she waited for a fish to bite on a late summer afternoon. The way she loved watching hummingbirds dance at breakfast, sharing old stories and learning new gossip or drinking salty margaritas after a harrowing doctor's visit. She reveled in a juicy tomato sandwich from her son's garden or a joke that ended in uncontrollable, breathless laughter. She adored the rapt attention of the room, when she tilted her head and winked just seconds before she triumphed in a game of rummy.

Her biscuits and fried chicken were legendary.

She was a wizard with numbers and refused to accept an unbalanced ledger. She was a purveyor of hope to the underdog, her hand ever extended with her dream seeds of home. She planted and watered and tended those seeds, betting her all so that so many might find a new way to think about an old problem or actually have a sweet home of their own.

Despite that some said she was dealt a bad hand, she became a brilliant card shark, finishing with a full house of friends and family who loved her and love her still.

She is survived by her brothers, Charles and Nelson Morgan and her sister, Melba Fuller and her husband Thomas. Her son, Richard Holt and his wife and loving caregiver to Margie, Cindy. Cindy's mother Marjorie Elrod who was her best friend. Her daughter, Debra (Debee) DiMenichi and her husband Dante. Her step-daughter, Libby Belcher and her husband David. Her grandchildren, Rachel DiMenichi, Kathryn DiMenichi and her partner Clarke Anderson, and Dante Simon DiMenichi, III and his wife Stacy, Beth Belcher, Jesse Belcher and her two great-grandchildren, Isabella Scott and Maxwell Forrester. And a host of friends.

Her greatest joy was seeing her family love one another.

The family invites you to a celebration of Margie's life where we will share stories, an early supper, laughter and tears.
