Music by The Piano Brothers

Glen Rodgerson of Brookhaven, Georgia passed away on November 1 after a long struggle with several illnesses.  Glen was 73 years of age.  He will be laid to rest in Honey Creek Woodlands Memorial Preserve in Conyers, Georgia on Monday, the 11th of November at 11 A.M.  Phoenix Funeral Home in Conyers is in charge of the arrangements.

Glen was a decorated Vietnam veteran and will be buried with military honors. Glen graduated from Harmony High School in Iredell County, North Carolina.  He attended both Mitchell College in Statesville and Appalachian State University in Boone.  After moving to Atlanta many years ago, Glen became a licensed massage therapist.   Glen lived an active and generous life.  He enjoyed theater and music and often ushered at many Atlanta venues.  A lover of nature and animals, he had many dogs over the years.

Glen was often on the dance floor at Zydeco, Contra, square dances, English dances and waltzes.  He was active with the Stone Mountain Highland Games and often wore a kilt when dancing.  He was a wonderful dance partner who was willing to volunteer to pitch in and help at dance events.  For many years he bowled on the Friends Friday league in Atlanta.

Glen is the son of Odis Glen Rodgerson and Edna Jarvis, both deceased, and is survived by his brothers Tony and Steve, sisters-in-law Amy and Brenda, nephew Steve and nieces Rachel and Michelle.

Glen’s zest for life was exemplified by his joy for living, his many activities and his generosity to various causes such as animal welfare, the natural world, the dance community and the theater.

During his illness Glen was cared for by many friends from the different facets of his life.  “Team Glen” was spearheaded by Randy Stephenson, Clara Welch, Barbara Meadows and Amy Krafchick.  Donations in Glen’s memory may be made to any one of the organizations that were dear to Glen:  a dance group, a theater or an animal rescue organization of your choice.  A celebration of Glen’s life will be held on Sunday, November 17 at 6 P.M. at a location to be determined.
