Frenzella “Fran/Fren” Johnson -Ward, was born January 8, 1932 in Stockton, Alabama to the late Sam Johnson and Luella Washington-Johnson, She departed this life on February 25th 2020 at home surrounded by family.

As a child, Frenzella attended public school in Stockton/Bayminette Alabama.   She graduated Douglasville High School as a member of the Class of 1950.  After High School, Frenzella attended Alabama State College where she graduated in 1954 with a B.S. Degree in Education.  While at college, she met Theodore Ward.  They were joined in Holy Matrimony on July 11th of 1954.   At an early age she accepted Jesus as her personal Savior, was a member of Zion Fountain Church in Stockton Alabama.  In 1956 Frenzella converted to Catholicism.  From the union with her husband Theodore Ward, 2 Sons Theodore Ward II and Lanier Ward were born.

After college, Frenzella taught school in Ozark Alabama as a Physical Education Teacher and Girls Basketball Coach.  She taught 12 years at DA Smith School, 1 ½ years at Dothan High School in Dothan Alabama. 

Frenzella and her family moved from Alabama to Hempstead New York, Long Island in 1970 where she taught at The Helen Keller National Center for the Blind & Deaf from 1970-1979 as a Mobility Instructor in Sands Point, NY, Long Island.  She enjoyed teaching Deaf Blind students how to travel with long canes.  After 9 years at The Helen Keller National Center for the Blind & Deaf, Frenzella moved back south and settled in Warm Springs, GA where she obtained a position as a Blind and Deaf Instructor at the Roosevelt Institution for Rehabilitation.    Frenzella worked for the Roosevelt Institution for Rehabilitation until she retired on January 31, 1996.  After retirement she continued to work with homebound blind individuals for 2 ½ years.  She also became a substitute Teacher for Meriwether County Schools until her health declined.

Frenzella was preceded in death by her parents Sam & Luella Johnson and Grandson Theodore Ward III.  She leaves to cherish her memories 2 Sons Theodore WardII of Warm Springs GA, Lanier Ward of McDonough, GA, 2 Granddaughters Jennifer Lynn Ward Ince of Newnan GA & Gabrielle Ward of McDonough, GA, 1 Sister Krenzella Johnson-Fields of Stockton, Alabama and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Relatives, Students from DA Smith High school in Ozark Alabama, friends & Special Friends Henrietta Archie, Portia Thomas, Ann Bailey, Ann Hubbard, Theresa Locke, Charlotte Pennington, Alice Parker and Carrie Harvey.
