Ann L. Nunz, 76, of McDonough, GA died on Thursday, August 6, 2020. Of Ukrainian decent, she was born on September 24, 1943 in Viechtach, Germany, where her parents, the late Maria & Mikola Lapikockij were trying to reach the safety of the Allies during World Word II. She spent the first 5 years of her life in various Red Cross deportation camps awaiting notification of which country would accept refuges. On April 11, 1950, she arrived in the US, via the Port of New York, with her parents, and two younger brothers. From there the family moved to a farm in Maryland which was owned by their citizenship sponsors. Soon after her family settled in Gettysburg, PA. She was a graduate of Delone Catholic High School in McSherrystown, PA. Ann spent many years in the hospitality industry. In 1977 she was under contract for the US Military in Oahu, HI where she assisted in the training of staff and converting “mess halls” into “fine dining” restaurants. Prior to retirement, Ann worked for years at the Country Fisherman in Stockbridge, GA where she coordinated donation collections for the annual holiday meal and gifts for the underserved in Henry County, GA. Ann was well known for her baking and cooking. Above all, Ann loved her family and helping those in need. She was outgoing and compassionate. She often expressed her pride in her daughters, as well as her grandsons. She was ecstatic about being a great grandmother. Ann is survived by her daughters, Kathryn (Greg) Moore of Virginia Beach, VA; Tracey (J. Randy) Crumbley of McDonough, GA; Cindy (Keith) Buice of McDonough, GA; Grandsons: John Crumbley, Nathan (Haley) Buice, Cade Crumbley, great grand children Laiken Buice, Jaxon Buice, her brother Nicholas Lapikockij of Freeport, TX, several nieces and nephews on both the Nunz and Lapikockij side of the family. In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by twin daughters Ruth and Theresa, as well brother John Lapikockij. Services will be held in the Chapel at Honey Creek Woodlands at the Monastery in Conyers, GA on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 1:00p.m. with burial immediately following. The family plans to hold a memorial service for Ann when extended family and friends can safely gather together
