Charles Harvey (Bobby) Tomlin
September 18, 1937 – May 22, 2022
Born September 18, 1937, in White County, Georgia. Oldest of nine children born to Howard and Eddie Mae Tomlin. Proceeded in death by his parents, brothers John, Dee, Hoyt and Kenny, and the loving mother of his three eldest daughters, Ruth Robertson.
Bobby is survived by his brothers David, Billy, and Howard, sister Eva, wife of 40 years Sandra (nee Trimble) Tomlin, daughters Crystal (Bob) Fulcher, Kim Clark, Susan (Chuck) Perry, and Michelle Tomlin. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Bobby had a strong work ethic starting at a very young age. A long-haul truck driver, he then held various other jobs before becoming the owner and operator of Safetyway Tree Service, Inc. for 50+ years.
Bobby had a warm, outgoing personality and he loved to make people laugh. He was always singing. He had a beautiful singing voice. He often enjoyed walking around the mall, or Wal-Mart, or Sam’s just talking to people. He charmed everyone he met.
People would often tell him he looked like Elvis. Bobby always dressed to impress with his pressed jeans, western-style shirts, cowboy boots, and a big shiny belt buckle. Hair styled immaculately. Club Man aftershave and Obsession cologne. All topped off with his cool, aviator style, rose-tinted sunglasses. The very definition of a fashion plate.
He dearly loved his family and was always quick to say, “I love you.”
To say that he will be missed is an understatement.
Bobby passed away on May 22, 2022 surrounded by family.
We would like to thank the incredible staff of Emory University Hospital (especially on the E wing) for their care and kindness during Bobby’s final hours.
