Catherine T. (Conroy) Paul was born to Francis D. Conroy, Jr. and Betty (Sommers) Conroy in 1945. Cathy grew up in Norwich, NY, attended St. Paul’s Catholic School through eighth grade and graduated from Norwich High School in 1963. She attended college classes at Oneonta and Pratt Institute. She was the sole proprietor of her own seamstress business, the Nimble Thimble, and later became a teaching assistant in the Norwich City Schools. She especially enjoyed co-teaching special education at Norwich Middle School with Jean Jones. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Norwich for many years, particularly as a member of the Funeral Luncheon Committee, as well as serving on the parish council.
She married David Paul at Saint Paul’s in 1968 and was married to him for more than fifty years. She was the exceptional and loving mother of Kateri (Cameron Partridge), Therese (Chris) DeLashmutt, Jerome (Katie) Paul and Joseph (Kay) Paul and the proud grandmother of Ian, Gabe, and Sam DeLashmutt, Lydia and Violet Paul, and Gavin and Brendan Partridge. In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by her siblings Anne (Bob) Sharkey, Tom (Kathy) Conroy, Eileen (Jim) Mallian, Mary (Lynn) Madsen, Dan (Kathy Link) Conroy, Alice (Ed) Beaudreau, and Jim (Regina Losinger) Conroy, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
After retirement, Cathy and Dave moved to the Atlanta, Georgia area, where she continued to be actively engaged with her family until she passed. She was a talented and creative seamstress, a devoted teacher, a patient counselor, and a kind and generous wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Per her wishes, a private burial was held at Honey Creek Woodlands (www.honeycreekwoodlands.com). There were no calling hours.
A Mass of Remembrance will be celebrated on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 2:00 at The Catholic Church of the Transfiguration (1815 Blackwell Rd, Marietta, GA, 30066) and broadcast on the internet (https://www.transfiguration.com/media/parish-video1/sanctuary/). A reception will follow in Bishop Hall.
