Clare was a beacon of light and a reflection of the love of God for everyone who knew her. Born to Bill and Joann on July 12th, 2006, Clare lived every moment with a zest for life and a heart oriented entirely to those around her. She shared her life intimately with her beloved twin sister, Helen. Their relationship went deeper than any other bond, and their “twin telepathy” allowed them to understand each other without having to say a word. Clare was deeply loved by her 5 older siblings, Kevin, Austin, Mary (her husband, Johan), Kathryn, and Theresa, and most recently by her 2 nephews, Andreas and Koda.
Clare had a deep love of music, especially music that could be used to speak to others. Her favorite artists included Taylor Swift, Clairo, and Phoebe Bridgers, although she would listen to anything if she found out you loved it. Her favorite activity was quality time, simply sitting with her loved ones over a cup of coffee or a delicious treat, lending a listening ear and receiving them as they were. Clare lived each day with attentiveness and exuberant joy. She was never a stranger to anyone, always complimenting the little things she would notice in the cashiers at the store, the baristas at the coffee shop, or anyone she passed by. She loved spending time with her nephews, playing with them and sharing their joy.
In the darkest storm our family has experienced in this life, the light of Clare’s life has shone the brightest. Her life has touched many, many people and while it was short, it was far from incomplete. We truly believe her life was well-lived and poured out to the full.
Clare passed away when a previously undiagnosed brain cyst caused a fatal seizure and cardiac arrest. Her parents were at her side.
We will forever miss our sweet Clare, who was the heart of our family. In her memory, we will try each day to spread her light and imitate her gentle, attentive love. Even so, we will always fall short of loving like her. We thank God for every second with Clare living among us. We will forever cherish every memory, road trip, dance party, and conversation we were privileged to share with her.
God’s ways are not our ways, and we ask for your continued prayers as our family begins this new and mysterious chapter.
Sweet Clare Bear, pray for us.
