Darlene E. Carroll, 79, of Lawrenceville, GA., passed into God’s eternal care on Wed., July 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
She was the devoted wife of James A. Carroll, formerly of Abbottstown, PA, to whom she was married for 53 years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by the other two major loves of her life, her daughter Jenny Carroll-Vareles, and her granddaughter, Ava Vareles. She also leaves behind several extended family members to whom she consistently bestowed her love, warmth, and kindness.
Darlene was born March 5, 1946, in Hanover, PA. She was raised, educated and worked in the Hanover area where she, her husband and then-young daughter lived before establishing new roots in the Atlanta, Georgia area in 1985.
Darlene was a talented culinary artist who enjoyed experimenting with new recipes as evidenced by her collection of 200 cookbooks and the grateful smiles from anyone who ever dined at her home. Having any meal prepared by Darlene was an exceptional treat. Her home and garden, adorned with her carefully cultivated flowers and flourishing plants, always reflected an aesthetic sensitivity; a heartfelt appreciation of both beauty and comfort.
A longtime parishioner of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, Lilburn, GA, Darlene was dedicated to nurturing her Catholic faith and deepening her spirituality in her love of God and for all that is good in the world.
A funeral mass, with Father Sunny, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Fri., July 18, at Saint John Neumann Catholic Church, 801 Tom Smith Road, SW, Lilburn, GA 30047.
