Mr. David Lester Lyons, age 71, of Mansfield, Georgia, passed away on October 16, 2025, at home where he felt most loved and comfortable. He was born on October 20, 1953, in Huntington, West Virginia, to the late John and Betty Lyons. David was a man of humility and steadfast faith, who was faced with many adversities and challenges--yet the faith he discovered in his 40s became the cornerstone of his life. His testimony from brokenness to redemption through Christ was an inspiration to anyone who knew him.
David was the happiest when he was surrounded by his beloved family. He faithfully attended his grandchildren's birthday parties, school functions, and sporting events. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed scouting out the perfect spot to hunt deer or turkeys and never met a dirt road that he didn’t like. He was once a young sprinter who would thrill bystanders who watched him zip through laps at a local park. He later enjoyed walking in 5k races, even meeting "celebrities" there like the Chick-fil-A cow. He embraced fandom of both Dawgs (the University of Georgia mascot, UGA) and dogs, with a lifetime of sporting dog companions; the latest being rescue hounds Riley and Boudreaux. David is preceded in death by his parents and leaves behind to cherish his loving memory: his wife, two children, five grandsons, a brother and a host of other loving family and friends.
Details of a Celebration of Life service will be shared with family and friends.
