Edward Martin Obituary

Mr. Edward Thomas “G-Man”, “Grand Dad”, “Eckie” Martin age 93 of Lilburn, GA passed away in his home on May 1, 2020.  After many months of battling declining health with unbelievable steadfastness and resolve, Ed has joined his beloved wife Betty, and is now at peace.

He is survived by his two sons Eddie Martin, his wife Michal Taylor; Tom Martin, his wife Mindy; two daughters Mary Calderbank and Elizabeth “Gindy” Martin; four grandsons; Andrew Martin; Justin Migliaccio, his wife Amanda; Ryan Banahan, his wife Michelle; and Matt Banahan, his wife Brenda; and four granddaughters Kathryn Martin; Jennifer Martin; Claire Taylor, her husband Blake; and Gabrielle “Gabby” LeFevre, her husband Chris; and two great-granddaughters Grace Banahan and Margot Taylor.

Ed was born in the Hampden neighborhood in Baltimore, Maryland and graduated from City High School in 1945 during the final year of World War II. He was immediately drafted into the Army and deployed to the island of Okinawa in the Pacific Theater of Operations.

After the war, he graduated from Loyola College on the G.I. Bill and met the love of his life, Betty, his wife for 60 years.  In 1982, the family moved to Atlanta, GA where he became an active member of Corpus Christie Catholic Church.

He loved his faith, books, current events, handy-man projects, and PBS.  He was a stickler for details and a consummate organizer.  But the most important thing in Ed’s life was his family.  We called him “G-Man” because he was the best grandfather of all time.
