Gloria H. Strong, 90, peacefully passed into heaven on February 23, 2023, in Braselton, GA. Born on Sept 3, 1932, in Atlanta, GA to the late John L. Harley and Estelle K. Harley, Gloria was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. On April 14, 1951, Gloria married her high school sweetheart, Charles “Charlie” S. Strong III, predeceased. She is survived by sons Chuck Strong, Chris (Terri) Strong, daughter Carol (Trey) Conley, 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Gloria was a 1950 graduate of Murphy High in Atlanta where she loved to play the piano with friends and Jitter Bug. She was a member of the Mixed Choir, Glee Club and A Rainbow Girl. Gloria became an Officer in the PTA and The DeKalb Chairman for Mothers March of Dimes. Together with her husband, she spent years helping start the Lay Witness Mission Program for the United Methodist Church. She worked closely with the founders to organize mission outreaches. Gloria also became instrumental in bringing Christian Television to Atlanta through channel 46 and the 700 club. Later becoming a Republican Delegate and always sharing her faith in God and Country.
Gloria never met a stranger and was known for her warm hospitality. She was famous for serving homemade biscuits, blueberry muffins, pound cake and Sunday dinners. She was full of laughter, funny sayings, encouragement and made everyone feel special with cards and letters. Gloria lived to be with her family and truly loved her children unconditionally. All said, her life was not without trials, but she would tell you she loved the Lord Jesus Christ and believed in the power of prayer. It’s what gets you through. Loved by all, she will be deeply missed and will look forward to seeing you in heaven.
Chapel/Burial service to take place at The Honey Creek Woodlands on Thursday March 2, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., 2625 Hwy. 212 SW Conyers, Georgia. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., at Father’s House, 1203 Royal Dr. Conyers, GA 30094, with Pastor Chris Strong and Pastor Chuck Strong officiating. The family will greet and receive friends, prior to the memorial service.
