Gregg James Lamb
November 4, 1967- October 1, 2019
Our beloved Gregg returned to the Lord peacefully on October 1, 2019. Gregg is survived by his paternal and maternal first cousins, aunts & uncles, his godchildren, Hannah Llwellyn and Cameron Johnson, and many friends whom he considered family. Gregg is preceded in death by his sister Michelle, his brother Michael, his dog Moose, and his parents Delores and James Lamb. Gregg was born in Philadelphia, Pa. His family spent time in Ohio and Michigan before settling in Georgia. Gregg was a graduate of Crestwood High School the class of 1985. He went on to study at the University of Georgia Athens where his love and dedication to the UGA Bulldogs began. In 1997, he took a job with Southeastern Data Cooperative. Since then, he worked briefly for Sun Guard before returning to SEDC as a Software Quality Assurance Manager. Most would say that Gregg never met a stranger. He had no problem striking up a conversation. As a result, Gregg surrounded himself with wonderful friends and co-workers. His smile was warm and welcoming. Gregg was photogenic and never turned down being in a photo. Gregg was an avid sports fan. He spent summers attending Braves games and the fall season cheering on his Alma Mater and the Atlanta Falcons. In 2017, he traveled to South Bend, Indiana, to cheer on the Bulldogs against Notre Dame. Gregg enjoyed traveling the world. He was proud to say he had visited all 50 states. He never missed an opportunity to plan a trip with friends and family. Gregg was a devout Catholic. He was strong in his faith and his commitment to the church. He attended weekly mass at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Atlanta, Ga. Most recently, Gregg became a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was proud to serve the community with them and this new chapter of his life. Gregg was a proud father to his beloved pups, the late Moose, and Teddy. His furry babies were his world. Gregg also enjoyed attending concerts and plays, trivia nights at his local hangouts, daily workouts at LaFitness, baking, and participating in the Peachtree Road Race for many years. Most important to Gregg were his strong relationships with his family and friends. He was a natural caregiver and someone people could depend on. Gregg made friends easily and when he decided he wanted to be part of your life, he made a commitment to be there for you when needed. Gregg brought humor and his passion for life to every situation. Many friends who met him through his family knew him as “Cousin Gregg”. Rest in peace our dear Gregg.
