Jeffrey Lyn Crane
Jeffrey Lyn Crane, age 61, passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Jeff was born June 9, 1960 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was one of three children of the late Roger Allen and Donaleen “Dani” Crane. Jeff was a graduate of Traverse City High School, and a graduate of Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan. Jeff was happily married to Kay who was his life partner for 35 years at the time of his death.
Jeff moved to Lafayette, Louisiana for his first job with Tenneco Oil Company. There he met his wife Kay Louise Comeaux. Shortly after their marriage they relocated to Atlanta, Georgia where he began his 30 year career with the Environmental Protection Agency. Following Jeff’s cancer diagnosis he and Kay moved to Lake Oconee, in Eatonton, Georgia where they grew their love together.
Many of Jeff’s life long friendships grew through adventures outdoors. He shared these passions with his family and made many memories capturing moments through pictures transformed into cherished videos. As his family can attest, Jeff loved to watch Michigan football, listen to music, track weather patterns, work on home projects, watch birds, and tumble rocks. Jeff also devoted his life to serving others as a Eucharistic Minister to the sick, and as a member of both the Knights of Columbus and the Cursillo community.
Jeff is survived by his wife Kay Crane; three children, Adrian (Sydney) Crane, Cameron (Madison) Crane, and Josie (Paul) Ver Steeg; his siblings Julie (Jeff) Quick and Steve Crane; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs, Marley and Stella.
