Jonathan Dewey Hicks

Jonathan Dewey Hicks, age 76 of Mansfield, Georgia, passed away on January 11, 2023, surrounded by his beloved family. He was born on September 21, 1946, in Porterdale, Georgia to the late Dewey and Doris Hicks. Mr. Hicks was a kind and gentle man, that was always willing to help others in need. He loved the Lord and he loved his family, beyond measure. He was an avid fisherman and nothing made him happier, than a fishing pole and a great fishing spot. He is loved by all that knew him and will be sorely missed. He is survived by his beloved wife, loving children, precious grandchildren, as well as a host of other loving family and friends. 

I knew this day would come

For it was just a matter of time.

As hard as it is to say,

This is the end of the line.

I never knew a better man.

It was you that taught me over and over to always believe that I can.

The memories we made were more than one can count,

Some hard, some tough,

But for you it was never about the amount.

I will never love another man the way that I do you,

Not to be negative, just stating what is true.

Your jokes, your laughter so many will miss,

Your smile and presence was like a special Holy kiss.

You had been through much, but it never held you back,

You picked yourself up every time and with very little slack.

You always shot straight as far as I could tell,

And if I could bottle your character and personality,

It would be too expensive to sell.

The world is a better place because of how you gave,

For people were your passion and many you led to Christ,

Knowing it is only He who saves.

I’m gonna miss you Dad and so many others will too,

For many lives were changed because of you.

Go rest high with your sweet Master,

For His arms I know you did run,

Because you told me about the day that you became a Son.

For fear has no place anymore,

And my hope and prayer is that we’ll see you again standing at Heaven’s door.
