Jonathon Player Thomas, age 42, of Covington, Georgia, passed away on March 28, 2026. He was born on September 11, 1983, in Atlanta, and from the very beginning, he carried a light and creativity that touched everyone around him.
Jonathon was a devoted son who took tremendous pride in caring for his parents. Nothing meant more to him than his family - his beloved wife and his three children were the center of his world, and his happiest moments were spent by their side. He loved God deeply, and he taught his children to live with kindness and compassion, and to always be peacemakers. Jonathon cherished his siblings deeply and shared a close, loving bond with each of them. He was a devoted and thoughtful friend to so many people who were blessed enough to get to know him.
Jonathon had a selfless and generous spirit, often giving his time, his belongings, and even his money to those in need, and sometimes simply to bring joy to others. He was the best dad, so proud of his children. Scavenger hunts in the Square, picnics at Oakland, and getting to choose something from the prize box when you were kind; he made everything fun, even if you weren’t his kid.
A gifted artist in every sense, Jonathon made everyone around him laugh. He was a talented musician, a stellar poet, and a passionate songwriter. His creativity flowed effortlessly into everything he touched, from his collage work to his photography. He saw beauty everywhere and had a rare ability to capture it.
He was a true Atlanta sports fan, and he was proud of his Filipino heritage. As an avid foodie, Jonathon always knew where to find the good Atlanta eats. He loved traveling to New York City, a place that always inspired him. He took as many people that he loved as possible to NYC so they could experience the same joy it gave him. No one knew more about that city than that man.
He enjoyed riding his bicycle, playing disc golf, staying active, and proudly ran in the Peachtree Road Race every year since 2020. You could always find him watching The Office, Friends, or That 70’s Show when it was time to unwind, and he always laughed like it was the first time. He was grateful to have a job working outside in Atlanta everyday as a land surveyor.
Jonathon is preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother, his loving wife, his cherished children, his siblings, and a host of other devoted family members and friends who will forever hold his memory close.
Jonathon lived with passion, humor, a positive attitude, and a servant’s heart. His creativity, his faith, and his love for his family and friends will forever be remembered by all who knew him.
