Laroy Leon McGowan

Laroy, 49, departed this life on Thursday, December 15, 2022 in Decatur, GA.

Laroy was born August 1,1973 to Sabrina McGowan and Iroquois (Darnell) Crockett in Cleveland, OH. Laroy attended Warrensville City Schools from pre-k - 12th grade. He graduated from Warrensville Heights High School in 1991, he then went on to attend Central State University of Dayton, OH. Although he did not complete his studies, he went on to pursue entrepreneurship (barbering, car washing service, etc.). 

Laroy is preceded in death by his Mother Sabrina McGowan, Grandmother Hazel McGowan, and Grandfather Roy McGowan. He is survived by his children, Dena Sellers, Simone Jackson, Darian Dickson, Taylor Chambers, Kaela Moses, Ramond Warren, Laroy McGowan, and Sabrina McGowan. Four Grandchildren Derrick, Kam’Ren, Zoey, and Tanner. Father Iroquois (Darnell) Crockett. A host of sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.

His Journey’s Just Begun

Don’t think of him as gone away

his journey’s just begun,

life holds so many facets

this earth is only one.

Just think of him as resting

from the sorrows and the tears

in a place of warmth and comfort

where there are no days and years.

Think how he must be wishing

that we could know today

how nothing but our sadness

can really pass away.

And think of him as living

in the hearts of those he touched…

for nothing loved is ever lost

and he was loved so much.
