A true gale-force wind in the lives of those who knew her, Lou Ann Shannon of Covington, Georgia passed away peacefully on Monday, April 27, 2026, after suffering complications from a stroke.
Lou Ann was a beautiful woman inside and out with a bright smile that brought warmth and joy to everyone around her. She was energetic, strong, and hard-working to her core. Even in her final days, she continued working a physically demanding job that she truly loved—something that surprised absolutely no one who knew her.
She was a masterful home cook who found deep joy in feeding those she loved—family, friends, and co-workers alike. If you were fortunate enough to sit at her table, you knew you were in for something memorable—and likely seconds, whether you planned on it or not. Lou Ann had a remarkable ability to take the everyday and make it extraordinary. From her home to her flower arrangements, outdoor planters, and needlework, she infused everything with warmth, creativity, and a distinctive sense of style.
Lou Ann is survived by her two daughters and son, her sister and brother, four grandchildren, and her niece and two nephews. She leaves behind a devoted family who loved her deeply, along with many dear friends who will forever miss her strength, her laughter, her cooking, and the unmistakable light she brought into every room.
A private graveside service will be held at the conservation burial grounds of the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers, Georgia.
A private celebration of life gathering will be held on May 30th from 1-4 PM. Details will be shared with her family and friends.
