Our precious Michael Shane Taylor returned to God peacefully in his sleep Monday, August 26, 2019. Michael has always been a kind and generous soul who cherishes his family, friends and love the Lord. He lived life with passion and energy, embracing adventure and challenges wholeheartedly. He delighted in surfing and BMX racing in California, playing ice hockey in New York and football in Georgia. Wherever he traveled Michael always found himself at home and among friends. He embraced the brotherhood on his fraternity, Lambda Chi Alpha, serving as president while studying at Georgia State University. An avid runner and cyclist, he raised funds and raced for the Leukemia Society and Wheels for Justice. He was a protector of all creatures, and doted on his rescue cats Sam and Gizmo. Ever charming and charismatic he will be cherished and missed by his family and friends. Michael is survived by his parents Jack and Margie Taylor, sisters Shannon Taylor and Christina (Neil) Desio, niece and nephew McKenzie and Aidan Desio, aunts and uncles Gary (Debbie) Meyers, Peter (Denise) Carney, Bridget Carney, John Carney and beloved cousins. Michael took refuge in the beauty and serenity of the Monastery of The Holy Spirit. His earthly body will be laid to rest in this refuge, Honey Creek Woodlands, Thursday September 5, 2019 at 10:30 a.m.. Family requests memorials be sent to the Monastery of The Holy Spirit in Conyers, Georgia, The Leukemia Society or your local animal shelter. Michael's service will be natural and in an outdoor, wooded setting. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the outdoors. Feel free to wears colors as Michael sees them all now.
