On April 5, 2019, our Heavenly Father called his son, Paul Salvador Gonzales of Loganville, GA, home after a full life at the age of 84. He was surrounded by family when he passed away.
Paul was born in Kanopolis, KS, in 1935. He graduated from Victoria Preparatory School in Victoria, Kansas. He then joined the United States Air Force, serving overseas in England. While abroad, he was scouted by Major League Baseball before suffering a career ending injury to his pitching arm. Upon returning to the States, Paul married Frances Fernandez. After finishing active duty service, he transitioned to the United States Army Reserves and began a career in the baking industry. During this time, he attended Marymount College in Salina, KS. The baking industry took Paul from Kansas to Michigan and finally to Conyers, GA, where he settled and eventually retired as Bakery Manager for Golden State Foods Corporation. Paul was an avid baseball and softball player, bowler, golfer, coach, and fan. He continued to play the game of softball until retiring from the game at the age of 75. Paul and his wife Frances were married for 58 years. He lived his life to serve God, provide for his family, and to help and serve others, especially the under-served.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Pauline Gonzales; his sisters, Mary Moore and Beatrice Rodriguez; and his brothers, John and Stanley, all of Salina, KS. He is survived by his wife Frances Gonzales of Loganville, GA; his sons and daughters, Salvador Gonzales of Phoenix, AZ, Mike (Wendy) Gonzales of Overland Park, KS, Lupe (Joe) Harding of Conyers, GA, Diana (Mark) Schroeder of Loganville, GA, Steven (Robyn) Gonzales of McDonough, GA, and Christine Gonzales of Loganville, GA; and his thirteen grandchildren in GA, KS, and MO.
