Robert C. Donaldson

Robert Charles Donaldson, 92, of Conyers, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on June 22, 2022.

Mr. Donaldson, better known as Bob to friends and family, was born in New York, New York on April 29, 1930 to his parents Robert Dawson Donaldson and Margaret Gallagher Donaldson. He is preceded in death by his parents and his twin brothers Ronald Donaldson and Bruce Donaldson.  He was a 1957 graduate of the Philadelphia Textile Institute in Philadelphia, PA. Bob also served in the United States Navy.

Mr. Donaldson retired from Bridgestone/Firestone with over 25 years of service. During his employment at Firestone, Bob worked in Hopewell, VA; Bowling Green KY (where for a short time he was the plant manager); and Gastonia, NC. He then moved to Conyers, GA and went to work for Bibb Manufacturing Company in Porterdale, GA-also known as “The Bibb Company” where he enjoyed a second retirement. Bob spent his retirement years playing golf and traveling in the United States and Europe. He always enjoyed the annual vacation trip with his wonderful family at various beach locations in North Carolina.

In addition to his wife, Virginia Ivey Donaldson, Bob is survived by his children Margaret Donaldson McLarney (Dave), James Ivey Donaldson (Cherish), Ronald Bruce Donaldson (Terri), and Robert Dawson Donaldson (Tiffany). Bob is also survived by his Grandchildren- Ryan Donaldson (Elizabeth), Abigail Donaldson, Orrin Donaldson, Sarah Donaldson, Sophia Donaldson, Meagan Donaldson, Jenna Donaldson, and Logan Donaldson. Bob has 2+ Great-Grandchildren: Parker Jane Donaldson, Jack Henry Donaldson, and one more little Donaldson to arrive in late July 2022.

The funeral service will be held at Honey Creek Woodlands, Conyers GA, on Saturday July 23, 2022 at 10:00am. If you are planning to attend, please arrive by 9:45 am at the Cemetery office. We will be escorted to the Martin Gatin’s outdoor chapel where the ceremony will be held. Feel free to dress casually and wear comfortable shoes.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials may be made to St. Jude Research Hospital Memphis, TN or Boys Town, Boys Town, NE.
