Obituary
Stacey Young Prince Jr.
Stacey Young Prince Jr., 86, peacefully entered his eternal rest in the afternoon of Thursday, May 4, 2023.
Stacey was born in Washington, D.C., where he received his general education before becoming a United States Marine in 1956, completing a deployment to the Panama Canal before receiving an Honorable Discharge. Stacey taught himself to play trumpet by ear at an early age, playing it to gospel music, Louis Armstrong, and Burt Bacharach style music most of his life. In addition to loving gospel groups, he enjoyed RVing, vacation traveling, and cruises. He was a lifelong Washington Redskins fan, learned sign language, and Spanish, which he used whenever the chance arose.
He was a sincere, social, and straightforward man that enjoyed talking to everyone he met. There was nothing he would not do to support his family and elders, whether extended family or neighbors in the community. He made it a priority to spend time encouraging and giving sage advice to young people. He worked many different jobs and long hours to provide a loving, secure home life for his wife and children.
Stacey's love and commitment to family was his driving force, even in his last weeks of life, seeing his youngest grandson start his career. He believed that his greatest accomplishment was seeing all his children and grandchildren receive college degrees and go on to have successful careers and lives.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Alfreda Elaine (Stewart) Prince of Sanford, NC; children, Anthony Vincent (Dwana), Christopher Bradley (Sharon), Alexis Danita, and Gregory Lamar Prince; grandchildren, great grandchildren, and other family and friends.
