Susan Irene Mead

Susan I. Mead, 72 of Decatur, Georgia passed away on November 5, 2021 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Atlanta, Georgia. Sue was the daughter of W. Chester Mead and Irene Mead of Cortland, New York.

She was a 1967 graduate of Cortland Senior High School, and from Syracuse University where she obtained her nursing degree.  Sue was employed at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia as a clinical research nurse for 46 years.   Sue loved her patients and dedicated her life to helping others.  Sue worked at soup kitchens, local charities, animal shelters, HIV/Aids Hospice Facilities and helped many less fortunate people by providing shelter and clothing.

Sue was blessed by a large circle of friends who were there for her during the past 6 months in her own time of need. 

Sue was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Linda A. Mead Culver Gonzales, of Garland, Texas.  Sue is survived by her siblings, Edward C. Mead (Kathy) of Seymour, Indiana; Morris C. Mead (Jeanne) of Westfield, New York, Larry A. Mead of Cortland, New York, Gary A. Mead (Linda) of Cortland, New York along with several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held at Honey Creek Woodlands in Conyers, Georgia on November 19, 2021.
