Thomas Watson Bass Jr. (Tom), age 75, of Lilburn, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021, after a battle with acute myeloid leukemia. The son of Thomas Watson Bass Sr. and Helen Bass, Tom was born and raised in Columbus, Georgia where he attended Baker High School, Class of 1964. He went on to attend Columbus, College, where he met his wife of 55 years, Gloria Fountain Bass. Tom earned his Bachelor's degree from Georgia Southwester, and in 1969 enlisted in the Army. He completed Officer Candidate School and was a proud member of the 82nd Airborne Division based in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He was honorably discharged with the rank of 1st Lieutenant.
After relocating to Atlanta, Tom worked at Law Engineer Testins Company. While working, he completed his MBA at Georgia State University. For the last 37 years, Tom owned a custom home building business that served homeowners throughout the metropolitan Atlanta area. For many years Tom was an active member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher and youth group leader. He also coached the girls softball and basketball teams.
Tom loved his family as well as his extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews, and enjoyed studying the family history. He also cherished traveling and going on family vacations. Tom, the oldest of four siblings, is survived by his sister, Kathy (Ed), and his brothers Randy (Anna) and David (Debbie). He also leaves behind his wife Gloria, his three children, Debbie (Ted), Crystal (Chris) and Trey (Kate), and six grandchildren, Andrew, Ashley, Anna, Davis, Leah, and Colin, as well as many extended family members and dear friends. Tom will be laid to rest at The Honey Creek Woodlands in Conyers, Georgia.
