Virginia Agnes Boll

Virginia Agnes Boll (nee Pogorzelski) passed on to her eternal home on May 15, 2019 following a short illness.  Virginia was born in St. Louis, Missouri on January 20, 1931 to John P.W. Pogorzelski and Agnes Katherine Trzecki. 

She married Charles Louis Boll in St. Louis on May 28, 1955 and together they enjoyed antiquing, traveling, and raising their 3 children.  Charles’s position took the family to Bakersfield, California where they enjoyed hiking, cross-country skiing, and even climbing Mt. Shasta!  Another corporate move brought the family to the Atlanta area in 1976. 

After Charles died in 1982, Virginia devoted much of her time to many philanthropic endeavors.  She was involved in putting on fundraising events for Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cancer Home and in other Catholic charities.  Virginia loved to cook, and many people benefited from her gift of hospitality over the years.  She was a parishioner of St. Andrew Church where she sponsored many RCIA candidates and provided breakfast for everyone after the classes.  She began the Caring Connection, a ministry which provided transportation to medical appointments for many people at the Hellenic Tower and other seniors in need of rides.  Virginia would often drive people to appointments far away, remain there to wait for them, and bring them home afterwards.  She was also active with the Women’s Guild.

Virginia trained in singing in her youth and the St. Andrew’s choir was the beneficiary of that training for many years.  She loved to sing and had a beautiful speaking voice.  Many wonderful friendships came from her involvement in choir and their trips to perform in Europe.  Residents of St. George Village also were inspired by her singing for many years with The Villagers, an in-house choral group.

Virginia was a resident of St. George Village in Roswell since its opening in November 2005. She loved the beauty and peacefulness of the grounds and the many activities. Until recently, she could be found every morning enjoying St. George’s indoor pool.  She would exercise by walking in the pool while saying the rosary before breakfast. She participated fully in life at St. George, serving on many committees through the years and being an avid player of Canasta, Mahjong, and Rummikub. Her sweet and gentle demeanor hid a razor-sharp mind and an amazing memory for what others had already played, making her a formidable opponent.  Virginia had a great devotion to the Rosary and many residents of St. George were inspired by her deep, heartfelt leading of the prayers.

Virginia will be missed by many, but primarily by her children, Judy Linnebach (Greg), Charles John Boll (Maureen) and Carol Schwarz (Michael), her grandchildren, Bridgett Hart (Cornell), Heidi Linnebach, Aaron Linnebach (Danielle), Jennifer Emerson (Evan), Marley Rutkowski, Patrick, Charles Austin, and Julia Boll and Mahinalani Schwarz, and her great grandchildren, Noah and Addison Linnebach, Jasmine Hart, and Evangeline and Malachi Emerson.

Her service will be held at St Peter Chanel church, 11330 Woodstock Rd., Roswell, GA at 10:30 am Tuesday, May 21^st.
